Superdatomatic: When Watchmaking Meets the Craft of Leather Care

It was while watching his videos that we noticed he was already using several Saphir Beauté du Cuir products to restore the leather straps on his watches. It was a pleasant surprise and naturally inspired us to get in touch and collaborate with him. For this project, Superdatomatic chose to restore a Longines fitted with the renowned 12.68Z movement, a watch that was in particularly poor overall condition. After meticulously restoring the movement and the case, he turned his attention to the leather strap. Using several Saphir Beauté du Cuir products, he demonstrates every step of the restoration process, from deep cleaning and nourishing the leather to restoring its color and bringing back its original appearance. The result is a perfect illustration that, with the right products and techniques, even a vintage leather strap can enjoy a second life.

This collaboration perfectly reflects the values we share: preserving quality craftsmanship, extending the lifespan of well-made objects, and celebrating artisanal expertise. While people often remember to have a watch movement serviced, they rarely think about maintaining the leather strap.
