Teinture Française

The Teinture Française® DEEP BLACK is an innovative penetrating dye designed to achieve a truly deep black color in a single coat on opened pores smooth leathers, suede and nubuck.
This product stands out from other dyes currently available on the market for its unmatched depth of black.
Differences from the previous Teinture Française® BASE BLACK:
1.    Color and Uniformity 
    • DEEP BLACK: The new dye offers a deep black color in a single application, regardless of the initial color of the substrate (white, red, burgundy, etc.).
    • Uniformity: It ensures a uniform finish without marbling, even on highly porous substrates like light nappa leathers or nubuck suede.
2.   Concentration and Penetration    
    • Concentrated Pigments: The higher concentration of pigments required a change in the solvent mix, resulting in slightly less penetration and a longer drying time compared to the Teinture Française® BASE BLACK.

All smooth leathers with sufficient porosity, suede, nubuck, velvety leathers. Suitable for both shoes and leather goods. Professionals can also dye patent leathers (we recommend always testing on a hidden area) using only the BLACK BASE dye, to ensure a uniform colour. It is important not to carry out any preparation or stripping before application to patent leathers.

For leathers very heavily pigmented with resins, it is advisable to carry out a test on a hidden area previously prepared and stripped using Décapant Saphir (code 0844).

Application on Patent Leather:
Limitation: Unlike the Teinture Française BASE BLACK, the new DEEP BLACK version is not recommended for coated / protected leather (major part of the leather in the market) and patent leathers due to its lower penetration capability.
For patent leathers and coated leather, the BASE BLACK is still the best choice for a uniform finish.

1. Preparation on smooth leathers, clean surface with the Decapant Saphir (code 0844).
2. Application:
   - In order to check the porosity of the leather, it is advisable to wet generously to check if the water penetrates.
   - It is easy to see with the naked eye whether the pores of the skin are open or completely closed.
   - Take the glove and use the stem pad to spread the Teinture Française®.
   - Repeat the operation if necessary to obtain a full, even shade.
   - Let dry for 1 hour

Test before on a hidden aera.

Finishing Recommendations:

To ensure optimal finishing after applying the dye, it is advised to use Saphir products suitable for the type of leather being treated:
    •   Smooth Leathers (depending on their condition):
- Good condition : Crème Surfine or Crème de Luxe in black, Canadian in black, Universal Cream
- Worn-out : Juvacuir
- Very worn-out : Crème Renovatrice
    •   Suede and Nubuck:
Renovétine in black (with Suede & Nubuck Brush)
