Teinture Française

The Teinture Française® is available in several colour variants.

The DEEP BLACK variant is an innovative penetrating dye designed to achieve a truly deep black color in a single coat on opened pores smooth leathers (high quality leathers with no coated leather), suede and nubuck.
This product stands out from other dyes currently available on the market for its unmatched depth of black.

The new DEEP BLACK differs from the previous version BASE BLACK in both colour and performance. It provides a deep black colour in a single application, regardless of the substrate's initial colour, and ensures uniform coverage without marbling, even on porous materials like nappa leather or nubuck suede. Additionally, the higher pigment concentration has led to a modified solvent mix, resulting in slightly reduced penetration and a longer drying time compared to the earlier version.

• Suitable for all smooth leathers with sufficient porosity, as well as suede, nubuck, and velvety leathers.
• Ideal for both shoes and leather goods.
• Professionals can also dye patent leather, but only using the BLACK BASE dye to ensure a uniform colour.
  It is important not to prepare or strip patent leather before application.
• For heavily pigmented leathers treated with resins, it is advisable to prepare and strip the surface using Décapant (code 0844) before application.

Preparation on smooth leathers, clean the surface using Decapant (code 0844).

1. To check the porosity of the leather, generously wet the surface to see if the water penetrates.
2. It is easy to observe with the naked eye whether the pores are open or completely closed.
3. Using a glove, apply the Teinture Française® with the applicator pad.
4. Repeat the process if needed to achieve a uniform, even shade.
5. Allow the leather to dry for 1 hour.

Test on an inconspicuous area.

Patent Leather Application:
Unlike the BASE BLACK Teinture Française®, the new DEEP BLACK version is not recommended for coated or protected leathers (which constitute the majority of leathers on the market) or patent leathers, due to its reduced penetration ability. For patent and coated leathers, the BASE BLACK remains the best choice for achieving a uniform finish.

Finishing Recommendations:
To ensure optimal results after applying the dye, it is recommended to use Saphir products suitable for the specific type of leather being treated:

• Smooth Leathers (depending on their condition):

1. In good condition: Crème Surfine or Crème de Luxe in black, Canadian in black, or Crème Universelle.
2. Worn-out: Juvacuir
3. Very worn-out: Crème Renovatrice

• Suede and Nubuck:
  Renovétine in black (with a Suede & Nubuck Brush)
